Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 18 June 2009 v Oxford UCCE (a)

After enduring a couple of injury-hit seasons Andy Carter was relieved to play a full part in Nottinghamshire’s 2012 campaign, featuring in all three formats of the game.

The tall fast bowler entered county cricket after impressing for Lincolnshire in the Minor Counties Championship.

Fleeting appearances, either side of an ankle operation, set back his progress in the professional game and only seven first class outings materialised between 2009 and 2011.

Three of those came during a loan spell with Essex, which brought a maiden 5-wicket haul but somewhat unexpectedly he also played a match for the England Lions during their Caribbean tour two winters ago.

Specialising in bowling a mixture of toe-crunching yorkers and snorting bumpers 6 feet 7 inch Andy was an integral part of Mick Newell’s plans last year and claimed a total of 47 wickets across the three disciplines, with a best of 4-55 at Trent Bridge against newly-crowned champions Warwickshire in the final championship match of 2012.
