Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 13 Apr 2005 v Loughborough UCCE (h)
Graeme Swann established himself as England’s number one off-spinner of all time during 2012, when he took his 200th Test wicket.
Born in Northampton, he made one solitary England ODI appearance when with his home county - but after switching to Trent Bridge in 2005 further success came along more rapidly.
He was a member of the Nottinghamshire side that won the County Championship in his first season and a series of consistent performances ensured a return to the international fold in 2007.
Graeme’s first Test appearance was in India in 2008 and a year later he played a starring role as England won the Ashes on home soil.
In 2010 the off-spinner was a member of his country’s successful ICC Twenty20 winning team and he ended that calendar year by playing in a winning series in Australia, an important stepping stone on England’s journey to become the number one side in the world.
Despite his international commitments restricting his Nottinghamshire appearances to an absolute minimum, Graeme nevertheless remains a popular member of the Trent Bridge staff and provides a welcome lift whenever he is available for selection.
Graeme has been awarded a benefit this season by Nottinghamshire.
