Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 4 May 2010 v Hampshire (a)

In 2010 Steven Mullaney added his name to the small list of Nottinghamshire players who have scored a century on his first class debut for the county.

2013 was an excellent season for Mullaney, who, after stepping into the breach to fill Nottinghamshire’s troubled opening berth, provided runs and solidity and was instrumental in the county retaining their Division One status.

He was also central to the Notts Outlaws’ triumphant Yorkshire Bank 40 campaign, impressing with the ball and scoring well when needed.

A regular in all three formats of the game, Steven comes into his own in white ball matches. An outstanding fielder and punchy stroke-player, his knack of bowling a sequence of tidy medium-paced overs in the middle of matches has turned many contests in Nottinghamshire’s favour.

The all-rounder spent this past winter playing in Bangladesh and Australia and looks set to continue at the top of the order for his county during County Championship fixtures, as well as remaining an integral part of the Outlaws’ efforts in the one-day game.
