Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 1 Apr 2012 v Loughborough MCCU (h)

Nottinghamshire’s one-day captain, James Taylor will be hoping to further his own international aspirations during 2015, as well as lead his county side in their quest for further honours.

Taylor was instrumental in helping Notts to their YB40 success in 2013, averaging 77.5 from his 16 one-day innings. Considered unlucky by most not to have added to the two Test match appearances he made in 2012, he followed up the 2013 season with another stellar run scoring and at a blistering pace.

Leading run scorer in List A matches for 2014, Taylor tallied 444 runs at an average of 88.80 including three centuries and an Outlaws high of 15 maximums. Therefore, it was no surprise that England came calling over the winter with Taylor's 98 in England's World Cup opener against Australia a particular high point of the campaign.

The 5’5” right-handed batsman made his debut for Leicestershire in 2008 and scored maiden centuries in both four-day and one-day cricket a year later. The same season also resulted in him becoming the youngest player for the Grace Road side to score 1,000 runs in a season and also the youngest to register a double century after an innings of 207 not out against Surrey. His final season with the Foxes ended in triumph, with him collecting a winner’s medal after his side’s success in the Friends Provident Twenty20.

Taylor joined Notts ahead of the 2012 season and immediately wrote his name into the record books by scoring a century in the second innings of his debut match against Loughborough MCCU.

Challenged to score runs in Division One cricket he averaged over 40, with four centuries, from his first two campaigns with Notts and knows similar success this summer is sure to have the selectors calling again.

His third LV=County Championship Division One campaign brought with it 992 runs at 38.15 with one hundred and eight half centuries.
