Ealham was man-of-the-match against Lancashire Lightning thanks to a quick-fire 33 not out as well as two wickets in the field but claimed the key to success was getting the right batsmen in at the right time.

He said: "After we lost to Leicestershire we had a good training session the next day and talked about our plans and getting people batting in the right positions.

"We got the batting partnerships and scored heavily at the right times. You have to use the fielding restrictions in the first six overs and then have wickets in hand for a dash in the last four.

"That worked to perfection against Lancashire and we had plans in place to deal with the loss of wickets at certain times. You don?t want a hitter trying to nudge it around in the middle period as you?ll only get in trouble."

The 35-year-old hopes our flexible tactics will mean there won?t be a need for a repeat of his sensational heroics against Yorkshire last season, when he smashed 91 from just 35 balls to single-handedly win us the match.

He added: "What happened last year is gone and I certainly don?t want to find myself in the same situation again.

"That day was pretty cold and dark with a strong breeze blowing. I?ll quite happily take a sunny afternoon and a straightforward victory in front of a big crowd."
