Patel Retains England Spot

General News | 26th August 2008

Notts all-rounder Samit Patel has retained his place in the England side to face South Africa at Trent Bridge.

Patel caught the eye with a solid bowling at Headingley and will look to help Elngland defend their lead in the second game of the NatWest Series.

In the only change to the side, Paul Collingwood returns at the expense of Ravi Bopara.

With Ryan Sidebottom injured and Graeme Swann left out, Stuart Broad will be the only other Notts player in action in front of a sell-out crowd.

England: Ian Bell, Matt Prior (wk), Owais Shah, Kevin Pietersen (capt), Andrew Flintoff, Paul Collingwood, Samit Patel, Luke Wright, Stuart Broad, Steve Harmison, James Anderson

South Africa: Graeme Smith (capt), Herschelle Gibbs, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Mark Boucher (wk), Albie Morkel, Johan Botha, Andre Nel, Dale Steyn, Makhaya Ntini
