Gareth Clough Released

Gareth Clough refuses to rule out a move to another county having been released from his contract at Nottinghamshire.

Clough, who spent nine seasons at Notts, will be fondly remembered for his contribution to the Outlaws side that made the final of the Twenty20 Cup in 2006.

“I’ve enjoyed a lot of good times with Notts and the Twenty20 Finals day at Trent Bridge stands out as the highlight,” said Clough, who will now concentrate on studies for a degree in sport and exercise science.

“I haven’t ruled out playing county cricket elsewhere next season but personal training and fitness coaching also interests me and I’m keeping my options open.

“Notts is a great club and Trent Bridge is a fantastic ground and I’ve made a lot of friends during my time here.”

Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell granted Clough an early release to allow him to concentrate on his degree work.

“Gareth has done very well for us in limited over cricket and he played a part in a dramatic improvement in our performances in the one day competitions,” said Newell.

“He’s at an age where second team cricket would be of no benefit to him but with the expansion on Twenty20, there could well be a county out there that needs a specialist like Gareth.

“He’s a great lad and he’s done well for us and we wish him every success in the future.”
