AJ Harris To Be Released

Nottinghamshire bowler AJ Harris will be released by the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Harris fell behind new arrivals Darren Pattinson and Andre Adams in the pecking order after suffering an injury setback in pre-season but made a determined recovery in pursuit of first team cricket.

After a brief loan spell at Gloucestershire, he joined Worcestershire’s LV County Championship Division Two challenge and his adopted side currently hold a 20 point lead at the top.

“AJ has served Notts well for nine years and he can count himself unlucky this year because our seam bowlers have managed to stay injury-free,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“He’s full of effort and commitment and he contributed a lot, particularly to our four day side, during his time at Trent Bridge.

“He still has a great appetite for the game and he can certainly perform a role for another county but we want to give opportunities to younger bowlers.”

Harris is currently enjoying a benefit year and was the recipient of the gate receipts from Sunday’s NatWest Pro40 game against Sussex.

He joined Notts from Derbyshire in 2000 and was a key component of the side that won the County Championship in 2005 with second-innings figures of 6-76 in the decisive fixture against Kent.
