Kent V Notts: Day One Round-Up

Samit Patel hit 19 fours and two sixes to reach 134 as Notts closed on 501-9 on day one at Canterbury. Patel was caught in the deep slicing a cover drive but his innings was the highlight of Nottinghmashire's batting effort.

Alex Hales was bowled by Martin Saggers for nought but returned later scoring 57 off 54 balls. Bilal Shafayat (11) was run out attempting a hesitant single, Mark Wagh fell to Azhar Mahmood for 37 and Paul Franks was dismissed without scoring.

Ali Brown scored 66 before Tredwell took a return catch and Chris Read hit successive boundaries before a swing and a miss allowed Tredwell to claim his second wicket.

Andre Adams (51), Mark Ealham (33) and Luke Fletcher (35) showed good touch and will spend day two bowling.
