Samit Patel has been included in the England Lions Squad to play West Indies in a four day match at Derby starting April 30.

Patel scored 95 on day one of Nottinghamshire’s LV County Championship match against Worcestershire on Tuesday and has worked hard to address the fitness concerns that led to his removal from the England squad to face West Indies in a one day series.

“We’re pleased that Samit has earned this selection and it’s a step towards his goal of playing a role for England in a big summer of cricket,” said Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“It’s vital that he stays on top of his fitness efforts and continues to make telling contributions for Notts because that’s his route back into the England side.”
