A fruitful opening stand between Sam Kelsall and Akhil Patel helped Notts Academy maintain their lead at the top of the Bassetlaw Championship with an 8 wicket win over close rivals Killamarsh at Lady Bay on Saturday.
 
The visitors won the toss and batted batted, scoring 176-9 from their 50 overs.
 
All the Notts bowlers bowled tidily with Ben McGuire (3-32), Adam Shepherd (2-18) and Akhil Patel (2-33) in good form.
 
Patel followed up well with the bat and was stumped for 59 with the score on 109. With 15 runs still required Sam Kelsall was out leg before for 59.
 
Sam Wood (21) and Jason Mohammed (14) saw Notts reach their target with 11.4 overs remaining.
