Read Suffers Dislocated Thumb

Featured News | 9th September 2009

Nottinghamshire captain Chris Read has suffered a dislocated thumb in the opening session of the LV County Championship game against Durham.

Director of Cricket Mick Newell expects Bilal Shafayat to keep wicket for the rest of the match but hopes that Read will be able to bat.

“Chris has gone to hospital for a scan and we’ll have to wait and see whether he feels that he can hold a bat,” said Newell.

“I don’t think he’ll be able to keep wicket for the next few days but we’ll have a clearer picture of what he can do when he gets back to The Riverside.”
