Graeme White took four wickets as Nottinghamshire edged the opening day of their Second Eleven Championship match against Glamorgan.

Glamorgan won the toss and chose to bat at the Notts Sports Club but lost early wickets to the Notts opening pace attack of Charlie Shreck and Andrew Carter on their way to a first innings total of 268 all out. Notts were 113-2 in reply at close of play.

Shreck claimed Hassan and Jones who both made eight and Carter then had Tuesday's centurion Will Bragg brilliantly caught by Jake Ball making ground and diving to catch the ball one-handed at mid-.off.

Steve Mullaney then held a return catch off his second ball to dismiss Brown and leave Glamorgan on 68-4 after the first hour.

Skipper Tom Maynard and Dan Roberts then set about retrieving the situation with a stand of 67 before Roberts was dismissed on the stroke of lunch, leg before to Akhil Patel from the third ball of his opening over.

The afternoon session belonged to two players; Maynard and White.

White bowled 22 overs unchanged from the Lady Bay end gaining leg before decisions against Davies and Shea before dismissing Maynard who was well caught low down by Sam Wood.

Maynard showed his liking for this venue following up his 161 in 2008 with an impressive 120 this time that contained a six that travelled beyond Scarrington Road and into the car park of the Brian Clough Stand.

White closed the innings by bowling Owen ending with 4-63. Other wicket takers were Shreck (2-61), Carter (1-44), Ball (1-37), Mullaney (1-22) and Patel (1-35).

Alex Hales then gave Glamorgan a display of textbook driving, racing to his 50 off 52 balls. He hit a six over the pavilion along with ten fours before he was bowled by Brown for 66 with the score on 86.

Akhil Patel, his partner in the opening stand, was then caught behind for 17 on the same score.

Matthew Wood and Steven Mullaney ensured that Notts lost no further wickets by batting out the final eleven overs to the close
