Second Eleven Trophy
Warwickshire 245 lost to Nottinghamshire 248-8 by 2 wkts

Notts made it eight wins from nine matches to finish with 16pts and extend their lead at the top of the North Group of the Second Eleven Trophy at Berkswell on Tuesday.

Warwickshire batted first and scored 245 being all out with three balls of the 50 overs remaining.

Jake Ball took two early wickets and bowled well to finish with 4-46 . Steve Mullaney 2-44 and Bilal Shafayat 2-29 bowled economically to restrict the home side on a small ground.

Warwickshire were indebted to Usman Shabir 59, Richard Johnson 51 and England 52 Under 19's spinner Paul Best 52, however a late collapse from 220-6 to 245 all out did not help their cause.

Radcliffe-on Trent's Mitchell Gowland  gave Notts a solid start scoring 67 before being 4th out at 137. Scott Elstone, Notts player of the competition this season, then took the visitors to the brink of victory with 66 from 73 balls and added 85 for the 5th wicket with Mark Nelson 42.

However both were dismissed along with Kelsall and Fletcher to leave Notts on 226-8 and looking vulnerable.

Jake Ball and Graeme White then batted steadily, taking no risks to guide Notts home with an over remaining.

Notts will now meet Essex in the semi-final of the Trophy competition at Trent Bridge on Tuesday 31st of August at 11am.

The winners will meet either Lancashire or Middlesex in the final to be played on the 13th of September with the venue to be decided.
