Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme Swann won’t feature in England’s NatWest Series against Bangladesh after being rested.

Kevin Pietersen has also been left out after suffering a minor thigh strain and there’s no place for Ryan Sidebottom. Stuart Broad is the sole Nottinghamshire representative in the England squad and will expect to lead the attack in Thursday’s series opener at Trent Bridge.

Swann has carried a heavy workload as England’s number one spinner but he will be allowed to represent Notts in two LV= County Championship fixtures ahead of the first npower Test against Pakistan at Trent Bridge from Thursday 29th July.

"Graeme Swann has been involved in all forms of the game for some time now and this forthcoming period has been identified as the best opportunity to ensure Graeme has a suitable break ahead of a demanding schedule this summer and during the winter,” said National Selector Geoff Miller.

"It's unfortunate that Kevin Pietersen has suffered an injury and although we'll know the full extent in due course it looks like he'll be able to make a full recovery very quickly.

"There was a lot to like about the cricket we played against Australia and the team will be looking to build on this against Bangladesh.”

Aside from the addition of Tredwell and Trott and the omission of Pietersen, Swann and Sidebottom, there are no further changes to the squad that beat Australia 3-2 in the recent five-match NatWest Series.

Tickets for Thursday’s NatWest Series One Day International at Trent Bridge are on sale from the online ticket office and the ticket hotline (0844 811 8711).
