Nottinghamshire seamer Ryan Sidebottom has been called into the England squad for the 2nd npower Test match at Old Trafford (June 4-8) after Tim Bresnan was forced to withdraw with a foot injury.

Bresnan suffered a stress fracture to his left foot during England's 8-wicket win over Bangladesh in the 1st npower Test at Lord's and will undergo further assessment this week before a recovery timeframe is established.

Sidebottom's inclusion is the only change to the 12-man squad ahead of the second of back-to-back Test matches.

"It's very unfortunate that Tim Bresnan will miss the second Test through injury as his bowling benefitted from five days of Test cricket during the Lord's Test and he would have been looking forward to getting more overs under his belt at Old Trafford,” said National Selector Geoff Miller.

"It does, however, provide Ryan Sidebottom with an opportunity to push for Test selection following his outstanding performances in the World Twenty20. The entire bowling unit will be better for the overs bowled during the first Test and looking to further build on this in Manchester."

Bangladesh provided strong opposition in the opening Test with Tamim Iqbal registering a second innings century to underline his potential to frustrate the England attack this summer. Tickets are available for the One Day International between England and Bangladesh at Trent Bridge on Thursday 8th July.
