Yorkshire paceman Ajmal Shahzad has today been added to England's NatWest Series ODI squad following a hamstring strain to Nottinghamshire bowler Ryan Sidebottom.

Sidebottom, who has been ruled out of Nottinghamshire's Friends Provident t20 match against Northants this evening, suffered a hamstring strain during the Outlaws' six-wicket win over Worcestershire on Sunday.

Notts are blessed with ample cover for Sidebottom this evening with Stuart Broad and Dirk Nannes in the side and Paul Franks, Luke Fletcher, Andre Adams and Darren Pattinson competing for the final place.

Sidebottom will remain with the England squad where he will receive ongoing rehabilitation and further assessment. Shahzad will join the England squad tonight ahead of preparations for Saturday's One Day International against Scotland.

"It's a shame Ryan has picked up this injury as he's been injury-free for some time now and bowling well," said National Selector Geoff Miller.

"Thankfully it's a relatively minor injury and we look forward to him making a full recovery soon. Ajmal Shahzad is a strong addition to the squad and he'll no doubt be looking to build on his maiden ODI appearance for England in Bangladesh over the winter."
