Notts Academy (226-5) beat Wollaton (222) by 5 wickets
Ollie Swann and Adam Tilcock helped Notts Academy to victory over Wollaton with a calm 111-run partnership.
Coming together when the Academy were on 82-4 from 26 overs, Swann and Tilcock has their work cut out to chase Wollaton's total of 222. The experienced Gerry McMahon had opened the bowling and backed by accurate bowling from Peter Wells and David Smith along with excellent fielding, Wollaton seemed to have control of the game.
After Tilcock departed, Ollie Swann continued to be the mainstay of the innings reaching his fifty from 85 balls before upping the tempo alongside Sam wood to reach the target with two overs to spare.
Swann reached his century from the penultimate ball and then fittingly hit the winning runs with a boundary to leave him undefeated with 106 from 132 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes.
Wollaton had made a steady start and were 64-4 after 19 overs. They were indebted to 52 from Karl Glendenning and 40 from Tim Young. However it was a swashbuckling 46 in 32 balls from Alex Read-Brewer including 4 sixes and 3 fours that could easily have given Wollaton victory if it had not been for Swann’s century.
For Notts Dan Cumming had figures of 2-25, Scott Elstone returned 2-33 and Jake Ball (2-38) and Adam Shepherd (2-52) also bowled well.
