Second Eleven Friendly
Notts Sports Club Lady Bay (Final Day of 3)
Notts (189 & 460-6 dec) drew with Leics (601-7 dec)

Nottinghamshire’s batsmen came to the party on the last day of this fixture as the pitch continued to show no mercy to the bowlers.

Neil Edwards and Steven Mullaney both scored 145, taking the opportunity to feel the ball in the middle of the bat and getting some much needed batting time.

Notts lost Akhil Patel in the morning session for 41 and at lunch, Notts were 265-2 needing a further 147 to save an innings defeat.

Edwards was out ten minutes after lunch to spinner Will Jones having hit 27 fours and a six in his stay of just under four hours.

Scott Elstone (14) helped add 52 for the fourth wicket before he moved down the wicket to Jones, missed and was stumped.

Sam Wood (19) took part in a fifth wicket stand of 52 before he too fell to Jones.

At tea the deficit was all but erased at 402-5 but after the break at 446 Mullaney was also deceived by the flight of a spinner, this time Jamie Sykes, and was stumped for 145. He had faced 142 balls with 6 sixes and 12 fours.

There was time for Sam Kelsall to score an undefeated 33 before Notts declared to finish the game at the earliest possible opportunity.

Sykes took 3-98 and Jones 3-115.
