Simon Webster took three wickets as Nottinghamshire Under 17s beat Durham to reach the final of the ECB’s national two-day competition.

Webster top-scored with 73 as Notts posted 271 all out before dismissing Durham for 176 and will now face Hampshire in the final a week today.

Nottinghamshire had lost the toss at Caythorpe before Webster’s partnership with Anuj Dal helped them to reach 100-2 at lunch.

Rhys Hayes retired hurt with a broken nose having been struck by a bouncer bringing in Connor Marshall, who captained Midlands Under 15s at Bunbury.

A ninth wicket stand of 74 between Ben Kitt (47) and Dan Wood (24) ensured a solid total which Durham rarely seemed in reach of threatening.

Bobby Gamble (2/24) and Simon Walton (2/25) were also amongst the wickets as Durham were dismissed inside 58 overs.
