Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel further enhanced his chances of earning selection for England’s first Test against India with a solid contribution in England’s latest warm-up game.

Patel contributed 60 to England’s total of 345-9 declared before returning figures of 3-44 as Mumbai A slipped from 210-2 to 286 all out.

Stuart Broad captained the team in the absence of Alistair Cook but didn’t bowl on the second day as he rested a bruised heel.

Nick Compton’s patient second innings 64 saw England through to the close to secure a draw.
