Steven Mullaney will captain Notts Outlaws in Wednesday's 40-over friendly against Leicestershire at Grace Road.
Trialist Matt Cross is set to open the batting alongside Sam Kelsall as Director of Cricket Mick Newell runs the rule over the Scotland international.
"Matt played some Second Eleven cricket for us last season and he warrants a closer look," said Newell.
"He's done well for Scotland and he can keep wicket so it's important for us to see how he copes against county bowlers."
Academy duo Adam Tilcock and George Bacon will also feature Mullaney and Riki Wessels adding steel to a young batting line-up.
