Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has been named in a 15-man England Lions squad to face Sri Lanka A in February and March 2014.

Taylor, who has previously captained the side, will join up with the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes, who will captain the side.

“We believe that this Lions squad contains an excellent mix of players that have had International exposure, combined with emerging young talent that we hope can flourish on this tour to Sri Lanka,” said England Selector James Whitaker.

“All our Lions tours and England Performance Programmes play a vital role in the development of future England players.

“The opportunity to train and play in the sub-continent will be an invaluable experience and under the guidance of coach Mark Robinson we are convinced all the players will learn a great deal.”

The England side will travel to Sri Lanka for a five match tour, onsisting of two three-day games against Sri Lanka A Team Emerging Cricketers XI, before three four-day matches against the Sri Lanka A side.
