Nottinghamshire bowler Stuart Broad will undergo surgery on a knee problem in September.

Broad has patella tendonitis and has managed the injury through England's summer series against Sri Lanka and India.

''The timing is not confirmed but the fella is flying over from Sweden after the Oval Test to have a look," said Broad.

''It will either be after that Test or after the one-day series, depending on what he suggests.

''At any stage in the last 18 months I could have had the operation and it's at the stage where it needs to be done."

Broad expects to return to fitness in time to play a part in the ICC Cricket World Cup in February.
