Currently lying third in NatWest T20 Blast’s North Group and in fine form across all formats, Notts Outlaws will be eyeing a home quarter-final should they beat Leicestershire Foxes at Trent Bridge on Sunday.

They will be further boosted by the return of Michael Lumb, who has recovered from an arm injury and took part in Nottinghamshire’s LV= County Championship win over Lancashire this week.

“I tore a tendon in my arm while batting in the championship game against Middlesex,” he said.

“The injury was terrible timing; I was feeling confident and was hitting the ball well, so when it came the timing could not have been worse.

“I am a shocking spectator. I hate being on the sidelines so I cannot wait to get back on the field.”

Lumb had enjoyed an excellent start to 2014 in limited-overs cricket, scoring 106 on his ODI debut for England against the West Indies, after being included at the last minute due to an injury to Nottinghamshire team mate Alex Hales.

“2014 was a good year cricket wise; I didn’t think I was going to play the ODI’s so to get a chance I was over the moon,” he said.

“I had waited a long time to get that chance and to score a century was a dream come true.

“It was one of those days where everything came off but the disappointing thing was that we lost the game.”

Lumb has impressed with Nottinghamshire and England, but also with Sydney Sixers in the Australian Big Bash T20 league. The powerful opener’s runs helped the Sixers reach the competition’s semi-finals, narrowly missing out to Perth Scorchers in a rain-affected clash.

“I love coming back to Sydney, it really is like a second home now. I love the city and the beaches and it’s a hell of a lot warmer than home,” said Lumb.

“I love coming back to the Sixers because it is such a great organisation from everyone in the office to players, it really is one big family.

“It’s a time where I really love playing cricket and to play at the SCG in front of the home fans is very special.”
