In the second day of their Second Eleven Championship match against Glamorgan, Nottinghamshire reduced the visitors to 299-8, before a declaration saw the home side add 134 runs for the loss of two wickets to end the day with a lead of 247. 

Nottinghamshire declared overnight, excellent work with the bat setting a total of 412-5.

Ashley Shaw made an instant impact, trapping opener Gareth Rees LBW without scoring. In the next, Thomas Lancefield was caught in the slips for 21, giving Brett Hutton his first wicket and ensuring both openers were back in the hutch. 

Neil Brand joined Jeremy Lawlor and the pair passed the 100 mark in the 31st over, before completing fifties within three overs of one another. Both survived through to the lunch interval, the score 141-2, Lawlor 55* and Brand 61*. 

Glamorgan’s 200 came and went in the 51st over of the day, before Ben Kitt had Brand caught for 85, ending a partnership of 176. Shaw then trapped Danial Choudhry for two, then Adam Tillcock claimed the prize wicket, seeing off Jeremy Lawlor for 81. 

Gareth Ansell was joined by Jack Murphy at 215-4, but he lost his wicket in the 67th over, caught behind off Mattt Carter for 21. Nathan Roberts came and went without scoring, Tillcock collecting another, and Ansell was run out just before tea by Anuj Dal for 30. 

Kieron Bull and Owen Morgan saw out the remaining overs, Glamorgan ending the session 299-8, and they declared with a deficit of 113 runs.

Jake Libby and Sam Kelsall opened the innings, though Nottinghamshire lost Kelsall for 11. Hassan Azad joined Libby, the pair taking the score past 100 before Azad offered a catch to Murphy at mid on off Kieron Bull for 45. Play closed with Nottinghamshire 134-2, Jake Libby unbeaten on 72 and a lead of 247 for the home side.
