A day of rain washed out any hope of a result on the third day of Nottinghamshire’s second eleven championship clash with local rivals Leicestershire. 

During day two, Leicestershire declared on 482-7, Pinner retiring on 123 not out after being hit in the arm by a straight drive from fellow batsman Hill, who went on to finish unbeaten on 73.

Nottinghamshire’s reply was pegged back early, losing Hassan Azad and Bilal Shafayat in the first four overs. 

Sam Wood joined opener Sam Kelsall, the pair passing fifty and reaching lunch on 61-2.  Kelsall was caught at slip for 34 two overs before Sam Wood brought up his 50. Alongside Adam Tillcock. The pair reached 100 before rain stopped play with the score 122-3.

Tea was taken, before the match resumed with 41 overs to play in the day. Wood was then caught behind for an excellent 80. Brett Hutton replaced him, bringing up Nottinghamshire’s 150 with a six over mid-wicket. Tillcock was bowled by Wyatt, and when Usman Tariq trapped Hutton LBW Notts were three runs shy of  200.

Luke Fletcher and Adeel Shafique saw the visitors past 200, before Tariq had Fletcher caught and bowled for 30. Paul Franks and Shafique shared a 50 partnership and the pair saw out the remaining balls to finish the day 285-7.
