An unbeaten century from Jake Libby, backed up well by the bowlers, ensured Nottinghamshire's Academy took 17 points from their trip to Farnsfield on Saturday.

Lyndon James and Libby opened the batting, the pair putting on 62 by the 18th over before the former was bowled by Sam Wood for 30.

Keast joined Libby, who went to his fifty off 82 balls, and had added 81 for the second wicket before he was bowled by Jamie Wagstaff for 33.

Adam Tillcock fell soon after for nine before Connor Marshall fell to a catch in the deep and Simon Webster was Wagstaff's second victim, the Academy falling to 188-5.

Libby solidered on and completed a fine century off 126 balls, including seven fours and a solitary six.

The opener lost two other partners before the end of the innings, Liam Patterson-White dismissed for 14 and Ben Kitt stumped for nine.

However, Libby carried his bat to end on 130 not out, allowing the visitors to post a competitive 268-7 off their 50 overs.

The Farnsfield reply came from Matthew Sisson and Andrew Bell, but both batsmen were on their way back by the fourth over.

Sisson was caught by Reicko Parker-Cole off Webster for ten before Bell was bowled for two by Simon Walton, the hosts falling to 15-2.

Callum McKenzie and Sam Wood were now together but with the first ball of the eighth over Webster struck again, McKenzie caught by Adam Tillcock for 11, the score 28-3 and James Smith joining Wood.

The Academy continued to pile on the pressure, Walton taking the valuable wicket of Wood (12) when he edged to keeper Tom Keast in the 9th and then Smith (3) was caught by Ben Kitt off Parker-Cole’s bowling in the 13th, Farnsfield struggling on 40-5.

Two further quick wickets for the Academy, Curtis Mitchell dismissed for eight and Sam Routlegde caught for 19, gave the visitors hope of a comprehensie victory as Farnsfield fell to 81-7.

However, a dogged eighth wicket unbeaten partnership of 33 between Wilson and Jamie Wagstaff stopped the rout, digging in to face 21 overs from the Academy’s bowlers to force the losing draw.

Wilson ended on 22 not out off 75 balls whilst Wagstaff added seven not out off 65 balls, the final score 114-7 giving the Acadmey a winning draw and 17 points.
