Reicko Parker-Cole took 4-25 as Nottinghamshire Academy made short work of winning their fixture against Ordsall-Bridon at Lady Bay yesterday.

The visitors were all out for 90 having been inserted, with Ben Kitt taking 3-29, before Joe New scored a half-century to guide the Academy to a seven-wicket win.

Parker-Cole bagged his first wicket of the afternoon by trapping Paul van de Heuvel lbw for nine, quickly followed by the remarkable deception of Joshua Marsh who was also lbw after ducking into a delivery that he expected to be a bouncer.

Martyn Long picked out Anuj Dal at cover as Parker-Cole’s hot streak with the new ball continued. And the visitors were floundering at 31-4 when Liam Andrews nicked Kitt through to the keeper for a duck.

Kitt, who spent much of the preceding week 12th man fielding during the first team’s win over Worcestershire, repeated the dismissal to remove Henry Appleyard, also for nought.

Two balls later Kitt joined his opening partner on three wickets when James Brice, facing only his second ball, presented a catch to Connor Marshall, making the score 53-6.

Sufian Munir (34) led a brief period of reconnaissance that took the visitors’ score to 81, before driving a Tim Wyatt delivery into the hands of Paul Franks at mid-on. Wyatt then had Asad Ali caught at mid-off, making the score 86-8.

Kitt took the catch at long-on to dismiss Aqab Ahmed off the bowling of Adam Tillcock, and Parker-Cole wrapped-up the innings by trapping number eleven Gary Andrews lbw for nought.

Requiring just 91 for victory, Jake Libby opened the batting for the Academy as his rehabilitation from a knee operation continued, only to be bowled by Ahmed in the fifth over for nine.

Joe New led the victory charge by scoring briskly at one end, and the score had reached 69 by the time Tom Moores was lbw to Long for eleven.

Tillcock was also trapped in-front having scored four, leaving New to strike the winning boundary at the same time as bringing up his fifty - off 63 balls with seven fours and a six; the Academy winning by seven wickets having taken less than 19 overs to reach their victory target.
