Notts Outlaws players Steven Mullaney, Riki Wessels and Sam Wood have thwarted an alien invasion in Nottingham ahead of NatWest T20 Blast 2015.

The same trio that saved the city from meteorites 12 months ago was called upon again during the filming of Cricket Has Landed 2, the sequel to last year’s promotional video for the T20 tournament, which begins against Birmingham Bears on Friday 15 May.

A combination of digital effects and live action was used by Affixxius Films to produce the two-and-a-half minute epic, which will precede the entrance of the players at all Notts Outlaws fixtures at Trent Bridge this season.

The Nottinghamshire venue will host seven NatWest T20 Blast home games in 2015, including five on Friday nights.

“Cricket Has Landed last year was really well received by everybody, not just locally but around the whole country, and there’s been a real anticipation for it this year,” said Mullaney, the Outlaws all-rounder who has appeared in both videos as well as the leading role in a recent Outlaws Origins trailer.

“I thought last year’s production would take some topping, but Affixxius Productions are great guys to work with and they have taken it to a new level again.

“The filming was carrying on long into the night but, to help bring the crowds into Trent Bridge supporting us – and now having seen the finished product – it’s definitely been worthwhile.”

Notts Outlaws have been well supported in recent seasons with attendances continuing to grow amidst plaudits for spectator experience.

Adult tickets for the opening fixture on Friday 15 May have been reduced to £10 for adults, £5 for under 16s and £7 for under 21s and over 65s.

Sky Sports have selected Notts Outlaws versus Birmingham Bears as their televised tournament launch fixture and a crowd in excess of 10,000 is anticipated.

“In my opinion Trent Bridge is the best ground to play at, with big crowds and great atmospheres throughout the tournament.

“The atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. The crowd gets right behind us and it’s a great place to play your cricket.

“We’ll be looking to start well against Birmingham Bears on the 15th with a big win.

“They’ve got class throughout their side and we’ll have to play very well.

But I’m confident that – if we turn up and play anything like our potential – we should win.”
