Jake Ball has been added to England’s squad for the Royal London One-Day International series against Pakistan, opening up the possibility of him representing his country at Trent Bridge in ten days time.

The Nottinghamshire fast bowler replaces David Willey in the party after the Yorkshire all-rounder sustained a hand injury during NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day.

Ball, who made his Test debut earlier in the summer against the same opposition, will join up with his England teammates - including fellow Outlaw Alex Hales - on Monday.

“If you’d have asked me at the start of the season about getting into the England team, I thought it would’ve been white ball cricket – and I’ve always felt I have a lot to offer with the white ball,” said the 25-year-old.

“It’s down to me, now, to perform well in the practice sessions and try to earn a place in the side.

“Playing for England anywhere is amazing, if I get to do it at Trent Bridge that would be extra special.”

Ball’s List A career with Notts and the England Lions has seen him collect 62 wickets at an average of 30.

He took 2-24 from four overs, including the prize scalp of Ben Duckett on 84, against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at finals day.

Trent Bridge hosts the third match of the Royal London One-Day International series on Tuesday 30 August.
