Nottinghamshire Academy won a thrilling rain affected encounter against Kimberley Institute CC, with Ben Kitt and Anuj Dal sharing six wickets.

After a rain delayed start, the Academy won the toss and invited Kimberley Institute to bat first.

It didn’t take long for the breakthrough to come for the away side as former Outlaw Neil Edwards edged Kitt to the keeper after just four balls.

The second wicket pairing of Collishaw and Rowe showed their intentions quickly by racing to a 50 partnership in just six overs, but the stand was broken when Kitt struck again, this time persuading Collishaw (45) to loft tamely into the hands of mid-off.

Dal then stamped his authority on the contest with two quick wickets, clean bowling Rowe for 24 and forcing Brown to edge to Kitt for nine.

Kitt's third and final wicket of the afternoon arrived when Bacon (4) presented Chaudry with the simplest of catches, again at mid-off.

The hundred came up for Kimberley in the 18th over, but it was swiftly followed by Dal’s third wicket as Terry was caught behind by Tom Keast for five.

Anis Raza mopped up the tail with three dismissals, including Bembridge and Ross in consecutive deliveries, and the Academy were left with a chase of 124.

Chris Tolley's men were quickly, however, reduced to 42-5 with Haines, Brown and Rowe sharing the wickets for the home side.

Tom Keast and Reicko Parker-Cole took the score to 72 before the latter was adjudged lbw to King for 14, the first of three quick dismissals that put the Academy very much under the pump.

Keast suffered the same fate moments later and, when Kitt was bowled for a first ball duck, the score was 84-8.

It proved, however, to be the last wicket that fell as Academy Director Tolley, batting at number ten, joined forces with Connor Marshall to post the matchwinning stand of 42.

Marshall played patiently for his unbeaten 18. Tolley's 24 not out off 31 balls, with four crucial fours, ultimately secured a two wicket win.
