In a game that is often regarded as a batsman’s fortress, the battle between bat and ball could be displaced with Imran Tahir in the Outlaws armoury, as the Notts Outlaws take on the Worcestershire Rapids in the second instalment of the weekend’s NatWest T20 Blast double header at Trent Bridge.

Making his T20 Trent Bridge debut, after last week’s game against Durham Jets was washed out, the number three-ranked world T20 bowler will look to enforce his reputation as the world’s premier spinner.

Adoring crowds have become accustomed to the leg-spinners celebrations but it is his inescapable googly that renders fear in the opposition batsmen.

In the white-ball arena, the prolific spinner recently claimed a seven-wicket haul against the West Indies, the best by any South African in ODIs.

His record breaking figures of 7-45 against the World T20 Champions, West Indies, followed a string of masterclass performances in the 20-over format; none more so than his equal-best career figures of 4-21 against England at Newlands in February.

Away from the international stage, one batsman who will be at the end of Tahir’s bowling wrath is Rapid’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

The valiant right-hander will be reminded of the last time he played at Trent Bridge, when he scored 75 to steer Rapids to their highest total of 173 – claiming a 20-run victory over the hosts.

Even more impressively, the in-form 21-year-old smashed Worcestershire’s highest top individual score when he hit 127 from 54 balls with eight sixes and 14 fours against Durham Jets in the opening fixture of the season.

Kohler-Cadmore’s fellow Rapids team mate, South African fast bowler Kyle Abbott, who joined Worcestershire at the end of June, could feature against his Proteas team mate as Notts will look to go further to securing their top four place in the North Group.
