Notts Outlaws Director of Cricket Mick Newell says his side will take confidence from a run of seven wins in a row as they prepare for a return to Welbeck Cricket Club.

The Outlaws face the Derbyshire Falcons in the Royal London One-Day Cup there on Sunday and Newell says the players will head into the game in high spirits after securing a home quarter-final in the NatWest T20 Blast.

“It’s a fantastic effort to get a home quarter-final with one game to go,” he said.

“All credit to the players because they have played fantastically well to chase down a variety of different scores to win seven games in a row.

“We have got used to qualifying for the knockout stages so when you don’t qualify it becomes a big deal to everybody, the Club and the supporters.

“So it’s nice to put it back to a situation where we have qualified and deservedly so.”

The Falcons, who provide the opposition on Friday, have enjoyed success of their own in white ball cricket in 2016, and currently top the north group.

The fixture sees cricket return to the north of the county, where Newell has fond memories from the victory over Warwickshire last year.

“It was a very good wicket at Welbeck, a nice change of scenery, and it was a real shame that it rained on the second day.

“Hopefully there will be a few people coming from both sides on Sunday to create a good atmosphere.”
