England captain Alastair Cook has announced that Jake Ball will make his Test debut at Lord’s tomorrow.

Having been named in three successive squads ahead of previous matches, the 25-year-old fast bowler will replace the injured James Anderson in England’s team for the opening match of the series against Pakistan.

England recognition comes on the back of a breakthrough 2015 season which saw him take 67 wickets across all formats, two Lions tours to the UAE during the winter and a stellar start to the 2016 campaign, which has so far brought 37 first class wickets at an average of 22.

Although a Test debut was on the horizon, Ball played in the recent NatWest T20 Blast victories over Northamptonshire Steelbacks and Worcestershire Rapids, throwing himself around in the field and taking the two wickets that increased his all format tally for 2016 to 46.
