Hasan Azad took 3-49 off ten overs, before adding an unbeaten 97, as Plumtree ran out nine-wicket victors over Nottinghamshire’s Academy on Saturday.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Plumtree made regular inroads to the Academy’s top order, the hosts falling to 108-5 despite 39 from Tom Moores and 36 from Chris Gibson.
Tom Keast (15), Connor Marshall (16), Paul Franks (34) and Louis Bhabra (20) all made lower order contributions but Azad dismissed three of the four batsmen to reduce the Academy to 194 all out.
Jack Blatherwick made an early inroad into the Plumtree batting line up, Saad Ashraf, who has represented Nottinghamshire’s Seconds in 2016, caught by Gibson for one.
However, that was the only breakthrough the Academy managed as Azad (97*) and Oliver Soames (79*) shared in an unbroken 177-run stand to secure a nine-wicket victory for the visitors.
