Jackson Bird’s spell with Nottinghamshire has ended a game early ahead of Australia’s forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka.

The 29-year-old has played five matches for the Club, taking 15 wickets at an average of 37 with two four-wicket hauls, against Surrey and Durham.

“I’d like to thank Jackson for his contribution and wish him well in the forthcoming series for Australia against Sri Lanka,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

“He played a big part for us in the opening game victory over Surrey and has continued to give his all throughout his time with the Club.”

Dan Christian, who originally signed as a white ball overseas player but with two red ball appearances already under his belt this season, will remain available for selection for the four-day match against Warwickshire.

South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir is due to arrive in time to face the Durham Jets in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday 1 July, and can then feature in all Specsavers County Championship and NatWest 20 Blast cricket for the remainder of the campaign.
