Notts Outlaws face Lancashire Lightning on Saturday (4th June 2016) in their latest match in the NatWest T20 Blast competition.

The Outlaws go into the contest, having lost both of their opening two fixtures, against Birmingham Bears at home and away against Durham Jets in midweek.

Lancashire, the defending Blast champions, also lost their two opening matches in this tournament and will arrive at Trent Bridge just a few hours after facing old rivals, Yorkshire, in a Friday evening Roses clash at Old Trafford.

The action gets under way at Trent Bridge on Saturday at 2.30pm.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Notts Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning will be meeting for the 20th time in domestic T20 competition with the Outlaws shading the head-to-head with 10 wins to Lancashire’s eight.

The 2012 game at Old Trafford was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

At Trent Bridge the two county sides have met on 10 previous occasions, with Notts holding an 8-2 advantage. Lancashire’s only successes came in 2007 and 2008 but they’ve lost on each of their last five visits.

Home and away, Notts Outlaws have won all of the last five meetings between the two sides.

Notts Outlaws have won eight of their last nine matches played on a Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME

The last Trent Bridge meeting between the Outlaws and Lightning was on 16 May 2014 and saw the home side emerge victorious by 33 runs, in front of a crowd of 10,971.

Samit Patel played a starring role with both bat and ball. He top-scored with 56 from 41 balls to power his side to a total of 182 for five, then picked up two crucial wickets on his way to a return of two for 25 as the visitors folded for 149 in 18.3 overs.

Michael Lumb contributed 39 and James Taylor hit a quick-fire 30 in the Notts innings and Steven Mullaney (3-46), Andy Carter (2-23) and Harry Gurney (2-25) more than played their part in a high-quality, all-round bowling performance to douse the Lancashire fire.

HISTORY

The 2003 match at Trent Bridge was Lancashire’s first ever match in the new domestic t20 competition. Notts had played three days earlier, in the inaugural match, losing in the north east to Durham.

Having had some match practice though they were too strong for the Red Rose, skittling them out for just 120 in 19.2 overs.

Richard Logan claimed figures of 4-0-26-5 for the home side, with Warren Hegg provided the main resistance in scoring 45. Notts, captained by Paul Franks, cantered to their target to win by 7 wickets with five balls remaining, largely due to 58 from Kevin Pietersen.

In the 2004 clash at Old Trafford Dominic Cork took a hat-trick for Lancs, dismissing Kevin Pietersen, Mark Ealham and Samit Patel with consecutive deliveries.
