Friday night cricket has an added edge this week as Notts Outlaws travel to face local rivals Derbyshire Falcons in the NatWest T20 Blast competition.

The fixture takes place at The 3aaa County Ground on Friday evening, 24 June 2016 with a 7pm start.

Notts made significant strides up the North Group table last weekend after defeating Worcestershire Rapids at New Road and currently sit in fourth spot, with six points.

The Falcons are a point and a place behind, with both sides having played six of the scheduled 14 group matches.

Head-To-Head

The T20 clashes between Notts Outlaws and Derbyshire Falcons have traditionally been some of the most competitive matches in domestic cricket.

This week’s clash will be the 26th time they have come together in the shortest format, with Notts holding a winning advantage of 15 matches to seven.

Three other matches, both of the scheduled fixtures in 2012 and the recent contest due to take place in Nottingham, fell victim to the weather, with not a ball bowled in any of them.

At Derby there have been eleven completed matches, with Notts winning eight and losing three of them. All eight wins by the visitors came in sequence, after they had lost the first two matches there.

The Falcons third win – and first since 2005 – came last season when they won by 34 runs. That was the only occasion in the 12 matches where the side batting first had won the match.

All eight of Notts wins had been when chasing, ranging from five-wicket wins to eight-wicket wins.

Notts have won 11 of the last 13 completed meetings.

Last Time

Derbyshire Falcons ended an eight-match losing sequence to the Outlaws on their home ground, last season.

After winning the toss, the hosts scored 201 for seven, with Chesney Hughes making 52 from 29 balls, alongside Hamish Rutherford’s 37 at the top of the order.

Ben Hilfenhaus was the pick of the Outlaws’ attack, taking three for 29.

Notts lost Alex Hales, bowled by Nathan Rimmington, to the first ball he faced but were still on course at around the halfway stage of their chase.

Riki Wessels then fell for 66, made from 33 balls with three huge sixes, and the middle order subsided from then on, leaving the home side to celebrate victory by a margin of 34 runs.

Played For Them Both

After rain washed away the recent Trent Bridge clash this will be the first opportunity for Notts to come up against their former fast bowler, Andy Carter, who made the short switch from Trent Bridge to the County Ground during the close season.

Elder brother of Nottinghamshire off-spinner Matthew Carter, Andy played in 21 first class matches for Notts, taking 60 wickets with a best of five for 55.

He also made 19 List A and 21 T20 appearances for the Outlaws between 2009 and 2015.

Earlier this season current Notts favourite, Luke Fletcher, spent a month on loan at the County Ground and made four first class appearances for Derbyshire, picking up four wickets in the process.

Amongst other players to have appeared for both counties are: Hashim Amla, Brian Bolus, Wayne Dessaur, Matt Dowman, Scott Elstone, Mark Footitt, AJ Harris, Mike Hendrick, Richard Hodgkinson, John Morris, Akhil Patel, Harold Rhodes, Mark Saxelby and Pat Vaulkhard.
