The 2015 Ashes Test at Trent Bridge had many stars, including two who have will look to guide England forward for many years to come.

Stuart Broad made headlines across 2015, including his record-breaking 8-15 during Trent Bridge’s Ashes effort, a set of figures that effectively sealed the Urn for England, for the first time in Nottinghamshire.

Broad blasted through the 300 Test wicket mark, removing Chris Rogers with the third ball of the first morning, and proceeded to rip through the Australian line up to bowl the tourists out for 60 inside 18.1 overs.

The 29-year-old registered the third best bowling figures in England’s history and took the equal-quickest five-for in a Test innings, within just 19 balls.

Meanwhile, a century from England talisman Joe Root, who scored 460 runs across the series and will be crucial in every format over the coming years, guided England in to an insurmountable 331-run lead.

Rogers (52) and David Warner (64) gave a better account for Australia during the second innings before Ben Stokes ignited another collapse, the man whose safe hands on the first morning coined the ‘Oh My Broad’ backpage splash on almost every newspaper.

After both openers were dismissed by the all-rounder, only former Nottinghamshire Championship winner Adam Voges showed any resistance, ending with an unbeaten 51*.

However, after Stokes had 6-36 to his name, the headlines on the final day were reserved for Mark Wood as he bowled Nathan Lyon via the inside edge, cueing celebrations across a packed Trent Bridge as the Urn was once again in England’s hands.
