Ish Sodhi says his Big Bash experience with the Adelaide Strikers has helped shape him as a player, but he’s aware of the need to adapt to be successful in NatWest T20 Blast.

The 24-year-old starred in the tournament Down Under, including remarkable figures of 6-11 in one particular fixture against the Sydney Thunder.

“The Big Bash was fantastic for me,” he said. “I was really impressed with the tournament structure, both on and off the field. The buzz around it was amazing.

“My first taste of the BBL was at the MCG so it couldn’t really get too much better than that.

“The home games in Adelaide were also fantastic. They took me in as one of their own.

“It was nice to put some performances on the board for a team that wanted me.

“It gave me a lot of confidence. Performing on that world stage can only make your confidence grow.”

Although NatWest T20 Blast has been scheduled for a block in the height of summer in 2017, it remains far less condensed than the eight match BBL competition.

That, according to Sodhi, will bring its own challenges as he aims to bamboozle batsmen in the Blast.

“It’s a lot of games, especially in comparison to the tournaments I’ve been involved in,” he said.

“That’s where I’ll need to be smarter with my variations and try not to get too predictable.

“If one thing works over one block of games, the batsmen will probably be playing for it in the next two or three matches.

“I’ll need to be adaptable and to change my game plan. I’ll speak to the players and coaching staff about conditions at the different venues, then change my mindset accordingly."
