2024 ANNUAL REPORT

23 CRICKET REPORT He’s played with his heart on his sleeve, and seen immense success in all formats of the game. I don’t believe it’s a stretch to say he is a Nottinghamshire icon; the legacy he built over 17 years will be long-lasting, and we are indebted to his commitment to his home county for such a long period. Elsewhere, we agreed to end Fateh Singh’s time with us to afford him opportunities in the game. Having come through our system, he is an individual of whom we are, of course, proud. However, his time on the profes- sional staff coincides with a period of strength in the spin bowling department, and it is only fair that he is given the chance to progress. He does so with our best wishes. Tom Loten andToby Pettman have also moved on from the club, having opted to retire. Both have been dedicated members of our playing staff, who have grown as players and people in their time with us. Their temperaments will serve them both well as they move into different fields of work, and they depart with our thanks. Our gratitude must extend to our wider staff at Trent Bridge who make our playing calendar possible. Our ground staff, maintenance and catering teams work tirelessly behind the scenes – and whilst they are often unheralded, the importance of their work is not unnoticed. Finally, I’d like to express my appreciation to our members, who support the club so passionately throughout the season. Whilst we may have fallen short of your expectations this year, rest assured those within the club are working tirelessly to ensure we are continuing to develop on the field. We are capable of competing on all fronts in the coming years. It is a case of learning from what has gone before and embracing the challenges which lie ahead. “I DON’T BELIEVE IT’S A STRETCH TO SAY HE [LUKE FLETCHER] IS A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ICON; THE LEGACY HE BUILT OVER 17 YEARS WILL BE LONG- LASTING, AND WE ARE INDEBTED TO HIS COMMITMENT TO HIS HOME COUNTY FOR SUCH A LONG PERIOD.” Mick Newell
