2025 Annual-report
NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB 2025 ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 8 ANDY H UN T CHAI R’S REPORT In these pages last year, I reflected on the determination of our men’s players and staff to turn in more consistent performances; and, from first ball to last, that is exactly what we saw this year. There were standout moments aplenty throughout the season, but our win at Surrey in the penultimate round of fixtures was the match of the summer. Over the four days, Haseeb Hameed’s side showed all the skill, courage and mental strength required to overcome serial champions in their own back yard. Equally impressively, they produced a comprehensive performance in the final fixture againstWarwickshire to seal the title. Of all the prizes on offer in our game, nothing matches the prestige of the County Championship, nor the satisfaction and pride that comes with claiming the crown. To strike the winning blows on home soil made the success all the more special. Those celebrations in the aftermath of our season-ending win over Warwickshire, with players and members sharing the moment, were a reminder that this is a triumph for the whole of Nottinghamshire to savour. Our men’s white-ball sides, mean- while, continue to go through a process of renewal and rejuvenation, with many of our more experienced faces having left the Trent Bridge stage. FromTom Moores’ mature, match- winning performances to Farhan Ahmed’s thrilling T20 hat-trick, we saw signs of promise in 2025 – and as the Championship win showed, you never quite know when success may be around the corner. The Blaze must be credited for their consistency, having been the best-performing side across both white-ball group stages. That will be of little comfort to our players and support staff, for whom As we all reconvened last season for the return of county cricket, I’m not sure even the most optimistic Nottinghamshire supporter foresaw us finishing the season as Championship-winners. “OF ALL THE PRIZES ON OFFER IN OUR GAME, NOTHING MATCHES THE PRESTIGE OF THE COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP, NOR THE SATISFACTION AND PRIDE THAT COMES WITH CLAIMING THE CROWN.” Andy Hunt
