2025 Annual-report

CHAIR’S REPORT 9 trophies are the only currency that counts; but a squad so well-stocked with trophy-winning experience cannot be far from claiming silver- ware again. On the international stage, England Men’s Test with Zimbabwe may have been less financially lucrative than those against more established Test nations, but those who joined us could not fail to be swept away by the fervour of the visitors. This was an all-too-rare opportunity for Zimbabwean players and supporters alike to experience Test cricket on such a stage, and they delivered many a memorable moment. It was a pleasure, too, to host a blue-riband women’s international between England and India – even if the visitors’ class proved too much on this occasion – and more than a little frustrating to see our sold-out IT20 between England Men and South Africa fall foul of the rain. Of course, this has been a far from typical summer in which to take in cricket at Trent Bridge, with our Pavilion shrouded in sheeting. I must extend my thanks to you for your patience and adaptability as our usual members’ areas were out of bounds. We hope that the Derek Randall Suite provided a suitable substitute facility. It’s testament to the tireless work of our off-field staff, meanwhile, that we were able to claim the Business of Cricket Award for Best Men’s International Spectator Experience in a summer where so much of our offering was disrupted. If you’ve passed our gates since the end of the season, you’ll have seen that tangible progress is now being made. With much of the behind-the- scenes work conducted during the summer, construction is now happening at pace – and the sheer scale of the redeveloped building is becoming clear. Visually, this will restore our Pavilion’s status as a dominant feature at our historic home. It will also permit us the space to offer a class-leading provision to professional teams, and to significantly improve facilities and accessibility for members. When complete, you’ll see an interior space and exterior design with the “IT’S TESTAMENT TO THE TIRELESS WORK OF OUR OFF-FIELD STAFF, MEANWHILE, THAT WE WERE ABLE TO CLAIM THE BUSINESS OF CRICKET AWARD FOR BEST MEN’S INTERNATIONAL SPECTATOR EXPERIENCE IN A SUMMER WHERE SO MUCH OF OUR OFFERING WAS DISRUPTED.” Andy Hunt
