Nottinghamshire First Class Debut E – 23 Apr 2008 v Oxford UCCE (a)

Luke Fletcher is a broad, strapping throwback to a byegone age, happy to toil away all day long in the pursuit of wickets.

The 6 feet 6 inch seamer joined Notts from local club cricket and in just his fourth championship match he gave an indication that he may one day be regarded as a true all-rounder by scoring 92 against Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.

Having helped Notts to their 2010 LV= County Championship success he has established a reputation as one of the great ‘tryers’ on the county circuit, yet has often failed to claim the wickets his performances have merited.

His only 5-wicket haul for the county came against Lancashire at Trent Bridge in 2011 but his economy rate of just over 3 runs per over compares favourably with most of his contemporaries.

With over 100 first class wickets to his name, Luke now has the experience to go with his physical attributes and will be hoping for a successful campaign having spent the 2012/13 winter playing in Australia.
