Nottinghamshire First-Class Debut – 19 Apr 2012 v Somerset (h)

One of the most experienced fast bowlers in the county game, Harry Gurney’s performances in 2017 are likely to be pivotal if Notts are to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The left arm quick arrived from near-neighbours Leicestershire ahead of the 2012 season, with a glowing reputation with the white ball, having helped the Foxes to T20 Finals Day and to an impressive showing in the Champions League.

At Trent Bridge his status as a red ball bowler also blossomed but it was in the shorter formats that he rapidly graduated onto the international stage, appearing in ten One Day Internationals and two T20 internationals in 2014.

Gurney has taken over 200 first-class wickets, with a best of six for 61, achieved last season against Durham at Chester-le-Street.

He was a member of the Nottinghamshire team that won the Yorkshire Bank 40 Final at Lord’s in 2013 and also participated in their unsuccessful T20 Finals Day bid at Edgbaston last August.

Away from the game, he joins teammate Stuart Broad as one of the joint-owners in a public house in Wymeswold on the Leicestershire border.
