Nottinghamshire First-Class Debut – 23 April 2008 v Oxford UCCE (The Parks)

The latest member of England’s 100 Test club, Stuart Broad’s international commitments have curtailed his county appearances since the seamer moved from Leicestershire to Notts almost a decade ago.

Following in the footsteps of his father, former Notts opening batsman Chris, Broad junior made his county debut at the start of the 2008 campaign but since then has enjoyed a rapid advancement up the world rankings.

In 2010 Broad was part of the England side, which won the ICC World Twenty20 competition in the Caribbean.

His fleeting appearances for the Robin Hood county have coincided with some of Nottinghamshire’s finest moments in recent years. He delivered the final, telling punch of the 2013 Yorkshire Bank 40 success at Lord’s by taking the last three Glamorgan wickets in the same over.

Circumstances dictated that he would only play a minor role in the championship-winning season of 2010 but his two appearances helped deliver 19 wickets, including eight for 52 against the Bears at Edgbaston.

If Broad hasn’t been able to feature as often as most Nottinghamshire members would like, he at least saved up two of his most stunning performances in England colours for them.

In 2011 he became the first man to take a Test match hat-trick on the ground, dismissing India’s MS Dhoni, Harbajhan Singh and Praveen Kumar with successive deliveries.

Four years later he surpassed even that performance by taking eight for 15 as Australia were bowled out for just 60 on the first morning of an Ashes Test.
