Andy Pick is Nottinghamshire’s Specialist Bowling Coach. The former county quick returned to Trent Bridge in 2014, completing an off-season coaching restructure at Trent Bridge.
As a player, Pick turned out for Nottinghamshire for 14 years, between 1983 and 1997, taking 454 first class wickets, a tally that includes 13 five-wicket hauls.
On five occasions he took more than 50 first class wickets in a season. He was a member of the county championship winning side of 1987 and also played in two winning Lord’s one-day finals for Notts.
After retiring, Pick began his coaching career at Bedford School, tutoring Alastair Cook, among others. From there, he moved to the North East, before becoming coach for the England Under 19s.
He helped the young professionals to two consecutive World Cup semi-finals, before spending a year in Canada. His last overseas placement was as High Performance Manager for the USA’s Cricket Association.
Since returning to his old stamping ground Pick’s specialist knowledge has played an intrinsic role in the development of a number of the county’s fast bowlers and on occasions he has also been summoned to work with the full England side.
