Date of birth – 25 October 1986 Nottingham

Nottinghamshire First-Class Debut – 19 April 2012 v Somerset (Trent Bridge)

Harry Gurney signed from Leicestershire ahead of the 2012 season and has played a starring role in many of the county’s fortunes since then.

The left-arm fast bowler gained England recognition in 2014, making 10 appearances in One Day Internationals and another two in the T20 format.

Gurney took a championship hat-trick for Notts against Sussex in 2013 and was also a member of the Outlaws side that triumphed in the county’s One-Day Cup success at Lord’s that year, taking a wicket with his first ball of the final.

Last year he collected two more victor’s medals, taking 13 wickets in the Royal London One-Day Cup triumph and then played a starring role in the NatWest T20 Blast campaign.

One Finals Day, in that tournament, he was the stand-out bowler, taking 3-19 in the semi-final win over Hampshire before scything through the Birmingham order in the final, collecting figures of 4-17.

Whilst his batting is much-maligned, the 31-year old has had his moments and claimed a career best score of 42 not out in the final match of last season, to ensure Nottinghamshire saved the follow-on against Sussex and sealed their promotion spot.

Away from the game, he joins team-mate Stuart Broad as one of the joint-owners in a public house in Wymeswold on the Leicestershire border.
