Nottinghamshire First Class Debut – 8 July 2005 v Glamorgan (Trent Bridge)

Mark Footitt rejoined Nottinghamshire in 2017 after spells with Derbyshire and Surrey.

The left-arm quick bowler made a handful of appearances for his home county during the early stages of his career; joining the Trent Bridge staff after making his mark in the Nottinghamshire Premier League for both Kimberley and for Papplewick and Linby.

Footitt’s first experience at county level came for the Under 17s but his development was rapid and he claimed a notable scalp with his maiden first class wicket being that of Indian Test player Saurav Ganguly.

Despite being hampered by injuries, during a first stint in county cricket, his reputation for genuinely quick bowling earned him a place in the England academy set-up, and he also took his maiden five-wicket haul for Nottinghamshire against the West Indies A in 2006.

Footitt eventually left for neighbours Derbyshire and later signed for Surrey, where he made a name for himself as a consistent wicket taker and propelled himself onto the fringes of the England squad.

Last season he bagged two five-wicket hauls for Surrey before getting the chance to return to his first county, signing a deal at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2019 season.

His second Notts debut came away against Derbyshire last August, eight years after he had last played for the green and golds. He claimed four wickets in that innings victory, taking his career tally up to 345.
